Juan Bravo was born in the Sánchez Ramírez province, Dominican Republic in 1961, emerged much later in the world of art, as he is part of the so-called “Generation of ’80”.
As an artist, Juan Bravo prefers large formats to express his artistic concerns as a high-flying artist. He “assumes drawing as his first option in his creative activity,” according to critic Amable López Meléndez.
Juan Bravo moves with unprecedented skill in the field of abstractions, creating nebula, galaxies, in short, an unknown world that begins to be created before our eyes in an instant prior to the creation of time itself and space. All that “chaos” that can be seen in the pictorial work of this talented artist, however, has an order, which is mental and emotional in unison, because it is a painting in motion.
José Antonio Pérez Ruiz, notable Puerto Rican art analyst and president of AICA, considers that “Juan Bravo’s exhibition places us before an artist well endowed with technical knowledge, which he uses to express his particular way of conceiving the truth.” Since 1979, when he became present on the national art scene, he has participated in several group exhibitions, both national and international (i.e. Cagnes-sur-Mer, 1987, Museo Rayo, Roldanillo, 1988- Point-a-Pitre, 1988 ).
